It’s 1983 in Austin, Texas, and Susan Hammock Hollon has just finished a race at her collegiate track meet and is looking for a healthy snack before her next race. Walking into the college town, she came across an “I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt” store that was offering free samples, and was hooked after her first taste. Immediately, she called home to tell her parents about the product and experience, and that she planned on opening a store after she graduates.
In 1987, she moved back to Ohio with a teaching degree in hand, and fours years of developing a business plan for a frozen yogurt store. She met her husband and future business partner, Kevin Hollon, in the teacher’s lounge. After persuading Kevin to try the frozen treat he was sold on the product and business idea.
In 1988 the couple opened two “I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt” franchises and successfully owned and operated them for over 24 years. The couple saw the potential of a new self serve yogurt concept and the possibility of moving it closer to their home. It was very hard to close their doors in October of 2011 because of the loyal customers and many great relationships developed over the years. They enjoyed, very much, serving the people, the schools and local businesses of Middletown, Ohio.
Soyo Yogurt, short for “So Your Yogurt,” opened with immediate success in Centerville, Ohio in the spring of 2012. The owners are excited to be serving the city of Centerville and the surrounding neighborhoods. They are ready again to support the local schools, recreational sports, charities, community events and those people, who like them, enjoy the experience of nourishing themselves with such a delicious treat.
Susan and Kevin strive to serve every customer the best product every day, and build relationships with everyone who supports them. We have a devoted staff, ready to give the people a memorable experience, with each and every visit.
